Installation and Care

That green is the Piedmont Pride. To the left is Empire Zoysia. The Piedmont Pride is ready for harvest. The Empire will be harvested in the summer.

There is a right way and a wrong way to install and care for your new yard. Here are some tips from Slater Turf Farm and some links for more in depth information.

Tip: When seeding, strive for excellent "Soil to Seed Contact." Soil to seed contact and correct timing are the most important efforts you can make to get a good stand.

Tip: When laying sod, make sure you have good soil to sod contact, that you have amended the soil fertility according to a soil test report, and that you water it right after it is installed.

Tip: Visit the web sites at the Turfgrass Resource Center www.turfgrasssod.org, and visit www.turffiles.ncsu.edu for detailed information on turfgrass installation and care. Also look at www.virtual.clemson.edu/groups/turfornamental/ for additional extensive turfgrass information.
