What is a warm season grass?

The warm season grasses are those which grow best during the summer months. A soil temperature of 60 to 75 degrees F will produce the best root growth. An air temperature of 70 to 85 degrees F will produce the best top growth. The names of the warm season grasses that are popular are Bermuda grass, Zoysia grass, Centipede grass, and St. Augustine grass.
