Turf Maintenance

Mowing

Mowing

When the new sod is "Snug to the Tuf" begin mowing at the correct height.

Additional Information

The right turfgrass installed at the right time of year will root into the ground within about 14 days or less. When the rooting is deep enough that you can no longer pull the sod up from the ground then you can begin mowing. Make sure the ground is firm enough that you and your mower do not sink into the newly laid turfgrass sod.
Water daily after installation

Water daily after installation

It is critical that you keep your new turf watered once a day for the first 14 days after installation.

Additional Information

Water to keep the sod moist until the new roots tie the sod to the ground. When the sod is "Snug to the Tug" begin deep watering. Deep watering is useful to encourage a deep root system. If your irrigation water begins running off your yard into the street while you are watering your new yard then turn off the water and let the water soak into the soil.
